Welcome to summer! At CCPA, we believe summer is made for fun, and this year our fun is centered on the arts. Come join us for camps that involve lots of art, music, movement, drama, and some great children's books! Most camp sessions are two weeks long unless otherwise noted.
June 5-16: Fairy Tale Fun! Come join us as we take a look at fairy tales from around the world. We will enjoy learning about similar tales from different cultures and explore different types of illustrations, music, and movement that make these stories come alive! (preschool)
June 19-30: What DOES The Pigeon Do? Mo Willems Can a pigeon really drive a bus or eat a hot dog? Does he need a bath? How about your Knuffle Bunny? Come enjoy the fun as we explore author and illustrator Mo Willems! We will make our own bus, do some sketching, and even try our hand at making our own knuffle bunnies.(preschool)
June 19-30: Aloha-ha-ha! Vacationing with Junie B. Jones Joins us as we kick off summer exploring the art, music, and culture of Hawaii! We will be reading Junie B.--Aloha-ha-ha! and finishing our session with a luau! (school age)
July 3-14: Colorful Collage: The World of Eric Carle Have you eaten a red, ripe tomato or a juicy pear like the very hungry caterpillar? Or found a way to make quiet music like the very quiet cricket? Join us for a camp where we explore musical sounds, make beautiful spider webs, and explore tissue collage and watercolor as we enjoy a variety of author/illustrator Eric Carle's works. (preschool)
July 3-14: A Step Back in Time--Folk Art and Music from the 19th Century We will explore Laura Ingalls Wilder's America! As we read Little House in the Big Woods, we will explore folk art, pioneer music, and cooking from Wisconsin. (school age)
July 17-21: Vacation Bible School! (9:00-12:30 p.m.) Register for a great week of music, art, stories, games, and fun while learning about God! Children will participate in CCUMC's vacation bible school program during fine arts camp hours. Families not needing full day care may register with the church. (preschool & school age)
July 24-August 4: Fun with David! Exploring David Shannon Have you ever wanted to make a painty mess, like in the book No David!? Maybe you want to become colorful, like in A Bad Case of Stripes? We will explore all kinds of painting this session, as we experiment with lots of color and lots of ideas! Expressive movement and a bit of yoga will round out a fun and fantastic session! July 24-August 4: Fudge-A-Mania! Classic Summer Fun This session will be full of classic, lazy days of summer fun! Join us as we experiment with tie-dye, spin-art, and classic music like the Monster Mash!
August 7-18: The World of Tana Hoban: Photography and Pattern Join us while we explore the books of children's author Tana Hoban, who uses photography and pattern to teach a variety of concepts, such as shape and direction. We will use photography and pattern in our artwork, discuss pattern in music and movement, and share our work with our families! (preschool)
August 7-18: Magic Tree House: Dolphins at Daybreak Come explore the wonders of the ocean with us, and ways that nature impacts art! We will be taking a look at Wyland's ocean animal art and exploring our own creations, as well as listening to the sounds of nature! (school age)
August 21-25 Preschool Favorites Our smorgasbord week! Favorite authors, illustrators, and activities will keep us busy during this last week of summer camp! (preschool)
